Location and demographics of Deerfield Beach High School

With about 2,409 students Deerfield High School is one of the largest in the Broward County School District.  This public high school is located at 910 Buck Pride Way Deerfield Beach, FL 33441.  Deerfield Beach high school has had numerous academic achievements including the IB Middle Years Programme which is a prerequisite for the international baccalaureate program.  It’s amazing that students in high school can be offered college level credited courses.

Intertesting Facts About Deerfield Beach High School

Anybody who graduates from Deerfield Beach high school qualifies for a college scholarship from the estate of JD and Alice Butler.

2005 the high school had it’s highest ranking of all time at 381 by Newsweek.  Unfortunately in 2006 it fell to #582 and hasn’t qualified in the rankings since.  Come on guys lets get the high school ranking back!

NAVY Seal James Suh graduated from Deerfield Beach high school in 1995.  Unfortunatley Suh died in Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan in 2005.  A movie was made about him in 2014.

Communications

Television

Can you imagine a high school with a fully functional TV Newsroom with editing machines?  Well Deerfield Beach high school has a TV Newsroom and Al Gore did a broadcast from that exact same room during a hurricane.  Students produce a weekly tv show and practice doing news stories.  After graduating from the program they are ready to take the next step in television communication.

Radio News

Along with the television room Deerfield Beach High School also has a radio broadcasting room.  Students learn how to produce radio programs and broadcasting.  The shows consist of both reporting and producing shows.

Graphic Arts

Graphics arts has become very popular and useful in this new technology age.  Deerfield Beach High School has two computer labs where students can learn graphical art editing.  Where does the year book come from?  You guessed it the graphic arts department.  Have you ever heard of a video yearbook?  Well Deerfield Beach high school has a video year book and it’s produced by the television and graphics department.  The program is so popular it usually wins several awards from the Florida Scholastic Press Association every year.

Urban Teacher Academy Program

Thinking of becoming a teacher in your future?  Deerfield Beach high school offers a program that teach students how to become teachers and community leaders.  This is not an easy program and students can expect a lot of hard work.  Students gain tremendous hands on and classroom experience.  All students must maintain a 2.0 and FCAT test score of 3 or higher to get into and stay in the program.  There are plenty of scholarships available for students who complete this program.
