1. Check on the power supply
Locate where the power shutoff is on your dishwasher. This may be a switch located above the sink or a cord underneath the sink. You may be surprised to find that the switch is off, if this is the case simply turn the switch on or plug it back in. If your dishwasher is still off after this, see if the circuit breaker has tripped.
2. When the dishwasher won’t start, see if the motor spins
If you haven’t used your dishwasher in a long time, this could also cause a problem. The motor can become stuck and have difficulty turning. If you hear a hum but the dishwasher is not working, this is an indication that you may have something wrong with your motor.
